Captain's Corner
As the Captain of your team you are the main communicator between the committee and your team. So if you receive information such as the fixture list from the committee it is your responsibility to pass it on to your team members. Likewise if a member of your team has a question or a suggestion it is your responsibility to pass the information on to the committee or let them know how to contact the committee.
The Captain is responsible for ensuring that the team abides by the rules and the aims of DWFA.
The responsibility of the Captain also includes the following:
(a) All team players are registered with DWFA
(b) Team players do not take the field wearing jewelry of any sort
(c) All team players wear shin pads covered by long socks
(d) All team players wear the same strip except for the keeper who wears different shirt.
(e) In the event that 2 teams have similar coloured strips in a game, it is the ‘Away’ captain’s responsibility to arrange for their team to wear bibs
(f) League fees (Approx AED3500) and referee fees (AED60 per team per game) is collected and paid to the Treasurer (Rania Kaissi) before the league season kicks off in September and again 2 weeks after it resumes in January
(g) Emails from the committee members are forwarded to their team and any other communication from the committee is passed on.
(h) The fixture list and any changes to it, are sent to all the team members
(i) The coach is paid appropriately
(j) 2 prizes are bought for the end of season awards night raffle
(k) They, or a representative from the team, attend the committee meetings
(l) The match sheet is filled in correctly, signed and placed in the match sheet box at the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence reception desk
(m) Due to the way in which new players are allocated, it is the captain’s responsibility to inform the Committee of any players who are no longer playing for them and to request replacements
(n) Matches are played in a competitive spirit with players showing good sportsmanship at all times
If you have new members join your team, it is also your responsibility to ensure that they are made to feel welcome and that they are informed about DWFA.
