What do I need to play?
If you would like to come down and join in the fun all you need are football boots, socks and shin pads.
When and where do you play?
Matches take place at the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence located in the Jebel Ali Shooting Club. Saturday night is training, Tuesday night is First division matches and Wednesday night is Second division matches.
How do I join?
Email the DWFA to confirm the training date, attend a training session on a Saturday at 19.30 at the Jebel Centre of Excellence so that a member of the committee can assess your football skills and best place you in a team. To register, pay AED100, a non-refundable annual membership fee.
How much does it cost to join?
As well as the annual membership of AED100:
· Each team pays approximately AED4200 for the use of the pitches per season (2 per year)
· Each team pays coach fees determined by the team
· Each team pays AED60 per match for referee fees
· Your football kit may cost approximately AED100
How many teams are there?
There are currently 17 teams in the league which is divided into two divisions.
When does the league start?
Training starts again on Tuesday March 3, 2009. However we are happy to welcome new members throughout the year.
How many players are in the team?
We play 7-a-side with the approximate size of a team being twelve.
What are the rules?
We play 7-a-side football but with all 11-a-side FIFA Rules except the offside rule. There are an unlimited amount of substitutions.
How long are the games?
Games consist of two 25 minute halves with a 5 minute break in between.
Do you have any tournaments?
We hold a one day tournament every year in the winter (December/January).
I don’t have much experience – will I be able to join?
Of course, even if you have little experience. We have good coaches who will help to develop your skills and football knowledge.
I have previous football experience – will I be able to join an experienced team?
Yes, Division 1 consists of experienced players and once the committee has assessed your skills, you will be allocated to a team. We try to ensure that experienced players are distributed evenly throughout the league in order to avoid stacking of good players.
