Meeting Minutes
- Winter Season 2008:
- A quick update on season results so far & golden boot for Divisions 1 & 2.
- Next season the winning team of Div 2 will be promoted to Div1 and one new team formed of new players will be added to Div 2. We will not be relegating this season.
- The spring season will run for 16 weeks tentatively from 21st February 2009 till mid June 2009.
- Training nights on Saturdays are a problem for some teams. There is no other alternative, therefore, training will remain on Saturdays for the next season.
- The League Sponsor, The Millionaire Company, sponsorship agreement of AED 30,000 in return of a website link, pitch branding, and other types of exposure to promote them. The sponsorship money will be used to reduce the League fees next season & the rest will be kept for September 2009 as it’s not clear yet where the League will continue, whether Jebel Ali or another facility.
- Pitches are not available for training till next season (Feb 2009).
- Winter Tournament 2008:
- The Winter Tournament is booked for Friday December 5th, timings TBC.
- Still waiting on team confirmation
- Suggestion: All teams to play on the medium sized goals. This can be used as a test to see if it will work for Div2 teams next season.
- Another suggestion is to combine the Div 1 & 2 teams in the same groups.
- New players might be invited to participate in the Winter Tournament & they will be slotted into teams that need players.
- Registered players will pay 20 Dhs & non registered players will pay 50 Dhs. That money will go to pay for the referees on the day & to pay for the end of year social.
- Winter season awards ceremony will happen during the lunch break. Players’ player award will be voted on the same day and a list will be distributed with the team & players’ names.
- Food and beverage cash bar, PA system and music will be available.
- Lisa and The Mil. Co. will arrange for a photographer for the day.
- Publicity:
- We are currently in Time Out & What’s On October 2008 issue.
- Lisa to check that the correct details are mentioned in Time Out and What’s On for the training nights and timings.
- A press release will come out in Four Four Two Magazine December issue & on Thursday 20 Nov in Express Newspaper.
- Website:
- The website needs to work & look good especially now that there is a League Sponsor.
- Team photos are still not uploaded because at the moment only 1 photo can be uploaded per page. Captains are encouraged to send their team photos to Jennifer.
- The website company are giving us 2 options: pay 150 pounds & buy a special software to control the website on our own or pay them 250 pounds and they will manage the website themselves. Jennifer to contact Michelle Forrest to help clarify website procedures and to present different solutions/alternatives.
- A suggestion has been made to close this website and start a new one that is setup locally with the same domain name.
- AOB:
- Canon asked if teams usually pay their coaches. Only 3 or 4 teams do so and the rest just give gifts at the end of each season.
- Jessica is still working on the Crocs deal and hoping to have everything in order to offer the League players’ a discount on all Crocs products in the next season 2009.
- The Social officers are proposing to have a start of season social after the 1st week of matches in the new season. They will study the different options and present them when ready.
