League info
DWFA runs two league seasons each year. The first season runs from September to December and the second season from January to May. There are currently 17 teams in the league with two divisions.
There is also a daytime tournament held each year in during the winter.
New Players
New Players must be seen by the members of the committee and attend training sessions run by the Chairperson(s) on Wednesday March 4, 2009 at 19:30. If you cannot make that date you can go to the tryout on Saturday March 7, 2009 at 19:30. New players must register. New players will then be assigned to a team according to the needs of the various teams in the league and by the committee’s consent. This is done to ensure an even playing field and to prevent stacking of good players in particular teams. Requests for new players must be given in writing to the Secretary or emailed to dubaiwf@hotmail.com.
Transfer of Players
Transfer of players cannot take place during League seasons. There are two transfer windows: June/July and Dec/Jan. Transfer of players can only take place with the consent of both captains and the committee’s approval. Applications for transfer of players must be given in writing to the Secretary or emailed to dubaiwf@hotmail.com.
Club Sides
If there are any clubs in the Association with a second and a first division side, the players will be selected for respective divisions at the start of the season and must play for the entire season in that division. There is to be no exchange of players from one division to the next, even within a club, during the course of a league season. Players are also not allowed to play any matches for the other team even in the event of a shortage of players.
League Awards
The Association awards the Winner and Runners Up of each division at the end of every season (in Dec and May). Additionally, the Association presents a Golden Boot Award and Player’s Player Award to an individual from each division at the end of every season.
